One week in Ireland

IRELAND –  July 28 – August 3, 2014

Overall, Ireland was great. In an attempt to live up to our plan of not trying to do too much in too little time,
we managed to cover a lot of the island but there are still a few places we will have to visit next time (mainly County Kerry).

Some of the highlights listed below:

  • Galway – we spent some time walking around Galway City’s tiny cobblestone streets and lane ways, stopping at a pub for dinner
  • Driving R477 through County Clare – amazing coastal drive on our way to the Cliffs of Moher
  • Cliffs of Moher – the cliffs were pretty spectacular
  • Driving in Cork City – Cork was a nightmare for driving, but what a beautiful city
  • Blarney Stone – yes, we kissed the Blarney Stone
  • Pubs in Dublin – we were fortunate enough to get a night out with our friends Chris and Sarah as they were visiting Ireland the same time as us.  We went on the Literary Pub Crawl, hitting 3 of the oldest pubs in the city (although there are several that claim to be the oldest)
  • Scenic Howth – perhaps the highlight of the visit was spending our last day in Ireland walking the waterfront and streets of Howth, about 15 minutes by train from Dublin

Also, we have to say a special thanks to our awesome AirBnB hosts in Dublin, Giovanna and Humberto.  These guys were extremely hospitable and welcoming.  If you are looking for accommodations in Dublin, definitely look them up at: Airbnb Dublin

Below are some pictures from the past week:

  3. Looks like you guys are having a great trip. Keep the blogs coming! Love the pics.

  4. You guts did things we still haven’t done! Blarney Stone and the Burren! You absolutely have to do Kerry if you return, just skip everything and head for dingle, but go via the Conor pass, and do the ring of Kerry and slea head, scenery you won’t believe
